Purpose/Introduction

The Chevron Phillips Sweeny, Clemens, Old Ocean facility is seeking to fill the Instrument and Electrical Team Lead position. This position will supervise the I&E Equipment Reliability team and reports to the Reliability Superintendent.
 

The I&E Team Lead provides technical leadership to identify and eliminate equipment failures, improve the quality of new installations, maintenance repairs, and ensures work is done in accordance with required company standards, best practices, and applicable regulations and industry codes.  

Responsibilities

  • Manage Instrument & Electrical Reliability team responsibilities, goals, and objectives to achieve desired results that align with company goals.
  • Responsible for monitoring and sustained improvement of I&E reliability metrics.
  • Develop and implement asset strategies that improve facility safety, profitability, and efficiency.
  • Communicate reliability recommendations to Operations, Maintenance, and plant leadership teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of the facility’s Mechanical Integrity program.
  • Lead and participate in equipment failure and process safety incident investigations.
  • Support Maintenance, Turnaround, and Capital Project teams to ensure new installations and repairs comply with company specific practices, standards, and guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience as an instrumentation/electrical reliability specialist or instrumentation/electrical craft OR Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of experience in the petrochemical, refining, or other related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Proficient at interpreting P&IDs, motor control schematics, loop diagrams, electrical one-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrument standards such as NETA, ISA, IEEE, API, NEMA, ANSI.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Safe Work Practice standard NFPA 70E.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of reliability assessment processes such as root cause analysis, criticality assessments, failure mechanism and effects analysis, mean time between failure calculations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ERCOT, TDSPs, and Power Purchase Agreements.
  • Experience with SAP, APM (formerly Meridium), and PowerDB.
  • Protection and meter relaying experience.
  • Prior leadership experience.
