ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESIONAL VACANCY
POSITION: General Music, Band & Choir Teacher
LOCATION: Lewis County High School
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid WV Teaching Certification in Music 9-12
- Experience and knowledge of fundamentals of a high school marching band
- Experience and knowledge of wind & percussion instruction playing techniques exclusive to marching band
- Knowledge of marching band auxiliary units including flag, majorette corps and color guard
- Experience in conducting grade level IV, V & VI concert band music
- Knowledge of playing techniques for instruments traditionally used in high school concert band
- Knowledge of voice & proper singing techniques for performance choir
- Work cooperatively with Robert Bland Middle School Music program, staff and administration at LCHS
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and oversee LCHS summer band camp
- March band in local, regional and state events
- Prepare, organize & oversee pep band for winter sport activities and graduation
- Prepare, organize & oversee band performances at football games
- Work to recruit & audition students for performance choir
- Plan, organize & oversee performances for choir, included but not limited to dates, venues, travel…
- Schedule events with school administration
- Be available for after-school rehearsals and performances
- Publicize events and communicate with all parties
SALARY: Commensurate with Certification and Experience
TERM: 220 Days
AVAILABLE: 2026-2027 school year
