The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a Laboratory & Production Services (LPS) Business Development Lead for the DACH region. In this role, you will have full responsibility for the operational delivery and development of the LPS footprint and customer engagement in the DACH Region. This includes overseeing all customer sites, ensuring effective execution of scope of work. You will further ensure that all sites are working in compliance with appropriate regulations such as quality, EHS and other legal requirements. The LPS DACH Lead is also responsible for developing LPS activity across the DACH Region, especially by developing new customer activity.
This role is on permanent, full-time basis. You can work remotely based in either Germany or Austria with about 25-35% of traveling involved. Next to an attractive base salary, we offer a performance-based bonus plan and a company car! Interested? - Let's talk!
The Team
You will be joining the European LPS management team responsible for overseeing and enhancing our operational laboratory services as well as for obtaining new customers. Your four direct reports will be our customer site leads based in Germany and Switzerland.
What we are looking for
Education: University or vocational degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or similar)
Experience: 5+ years of work experience within business development with direct people management responsibility
Preferred Qualifications:
- A good understanding on laboratory operations and the pharma industry in general is highly preferred
- Proven track record of developing and acquiring new business
- A keen customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively and to foster a positive relationship with customers
- An inspirational, dependable personality and leader with a talent for developing others
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and confidence to make clear decisions
- Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and networking skills
- Strong presentation skills in front of internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or relatable quality standards; experience with quality management is a plus
- Knowledge of standard MS Office Tools (especially PowerPoint and MS Excel) for communication, presentation and reporting purposes
- Business fluency in both English and German
How you will thrive and make an impact
- Managing the financial goals and accurate reporting of P&L
- Managing, motivating and coaching the Site Leads in the DACH Region, helping them perform at their best
- Providing strategic governance for existing customers together with the Site Leads
- To be responsible for the full DACH Region LPS activities within the Avantor Services division including specific site strategies in line with corporate goals
- Developing LPS activity across the DACH Region by acquiring new customers and helping our sales teams at the enquiry stage
- Working with other countries across the EU region to ensure all knowledge is shared and resources are allocated correctly
- Developing our Growth Strategy with the Head of Region and Business Development
- Together with the Head of the Region and Site Leads, supporting contract negotiations, renewals and new customer negotiations
- Supporting bids or proposals at tender stage
- Working cross-functionally within the organization to ensure Customer requirements are met
- Managing the Health and Safety at our Customer sites in line with the LPS Health and Safety Standards
- To align common customers globally with our colleagues in other Regions to enable expansions and synergies
