Job Description:

Facilitates communication between patients, family, and staff, including resolution of patient/family concerns and issues. Is responsible for notification of family members regarding status of surgical patient updates. Must have a high level of communication skills to effectively communicate with physicians, families, and other clinical staff. Must be able to recognize signs of potential issues within patients and/or family members.

• Serve as a liaison between family members, patients, visitors and surgical services.

• Serves as a resource of information for patients and families.

• Assist with surgery charge posting.

• Assist with surgery scheduling duties.

• Assist and/or perform the intake of patient complaints and grievances.

• Assist in the closure of patient issues.

• Demonstrates flexibility in accepting work assignments, including floating to other areas/units as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred).

• One year of secretarial experience is preferred.

• Experience in healthcare/ medical terminology.
