Revenue Accountant

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for ensuring accuracy in the revenue recognized on our financial statements by ensuring that the transaction activity in our subscription management tool is properly captured and accounted for in the General Ledger. This cross functional role will work to generate alignment with the Sales team by collaborating on KPI’s and reports as well as providing reconciliations of the sales data against the General Ledger. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is a strong communicator, detail oriented, and thrives in a dynamic environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Coordinate closely with Sales, Product, and Finance stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate information is obtained to support the recording of entries in the general ledger and subscription management tool.  
• Ensure proper revenue recognition through contract reviews, validation of performance obligations, invoicing, and payment collection.  
• Perform data validation and verification within the General Ledger and Subscription Management tool to maintain data integrity across systems. 
• Perform reconciliations between our general ledger data, sales dashboards, and subscription management tool during the revenue close cycle.  
• Assist with revenue forecasting and budgeting to support long-term financial planning. 
• Work closely with Product and Sales teams to optimize pricing strategies, packaging, and promotions to maximize revenue; this includes generating Ad hoc reports to guide the decision-making process. 
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline revenue-related workflows, including order form creation, payment collection, invoicing, and customer updates. 
• Prepare and present revenue-related reports, reconciliations, and KPI trends to management as needed, investigating any variances. 
• Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Pursue professional development opportunities to demonstrate your commitment to enhancing your skills and knowledge. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills 
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and messaging skills 
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606) 
• Ability to work independently and as a team member 
• Ability to adapt to rapid business and organizational changes  
• Capable of moving between a variety of roles with ease  

Education and Experience:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. 
• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, revenue analysis, or general ledger accounting, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
