This position is accountable for the planning, organizing, and operations of hospital safety, public safety, emergency management, plant operations, and maintenance functions so that the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, and grounds of the hospital are in an operative and safe working condition. Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the hospital community as well as delivering services that are responsive to our internal and external customers. Supports HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital’s leadership by ensuring that these programs reflect the organization’s strategies, business operations, and financial realities. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while complying with all TJC state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development, execution and measurement of Capital Planning & Facilities Operations Programs that support the organization’s goals and financial objectives. Provides leadership to the operating philosophy for construction projects, space planning, capital projects, facility properties, safety, and security.
  • Ensures that functional areas of responsibility manage all aspects of program design and implementation, administration, and are in compliance with all federal, state, local laws, and regulations. Keeps informed of new developments and disseminates the information as necessary. Fulfills the role of manager of relations with construction firms, regulatory agencies, and vendor selections.
  • Partners with UMASS Memorial Medical Center’s leadership to maximize economies of scale increase savings, improve consistency, and utilize proven/best practices. Recognizes where local autonomy and decision-making are more operationally and financially feasible.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of preventative security programs and Emergency Management to ensure the safety and security of the buildings, grounds, property, and people, as well as ensures compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Oversees the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and grounds and the status of work in progress.

Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education:


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Business or related field.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in capital planning management or related experience.
  • Proven facilities resource planning and plant operations experience preferably in healthcare.
  • Strategic planning, decision making, and highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding communicator: possessing superior written/oral communication skills, as well as the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner.
