Purpose
The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering is hiring a Research Engineering Scientist Assistant to perform research in areas related to advanced electronics packaging, nanoscale additive manufacturing, metasurface optics, precision machine design, and computational modeling.
Responsibilities
Performing experiments, analyzing data, optomechanical design, and/or computational modeling.
Writing reports and giving oral presentations on results of experiments for sponsors.
Project Management
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Demonstrated experience in materials testing and mechanical engineering.
Experience or familiarity with one of the following data collection and computational modeling.
Ability to work well with cross-functional and varied teams.
Ability to manage and lead external engagement and collaboration on projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: electronics packaging, FEA modeling, interface modeling, precision machine design, optomechanical design, metasurface optics, materials chemistry, additive manufacturing, and nanomaterials.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with a demonstrable ability to reach a variety of audiences in academia, industry, and government.
Salary Range
$34,000
