Purpose

The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering is hiring a Research Engineering Scientist Assistant to perform research in areas related to advanced electronics packaging, nanoscale additive manufacturing, metasurface optics, precision machine design, and computational modeling. 

Responsibilities

• Performing experiments, analyzing data, optomechanical design, and/or computational modeling.

• Writing reports and giving oral presentations on results of experiments for sponsors.

• Project Management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Demonstrated experience in materials testing and mechanical engineering. 

• Experience or familiarity with one of the following data collection and computational modeling. 

• Ability to work well with cross-functional and varied teams. 

• Ability to manage and lead external engagement and collaboration on projects. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: electronics packaging, FEA modeling, interface modeling, precision machine design, optomechanical design, metasurface optics, materials chemistry, additive manufacturing, and nanomaterials. 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with a demonstrable ability to reach a variety of audiences in academia, industry, and government.

Salary Range

$34,000

Working Conditions
