Job Description:
Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Operations and Products division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanic at the Tucson Proving Ground in Green Valley, AZ. You will perform complex repairs on all types of construction and mining equipment in a safe manner with minimal supervision. This repair work requires advanced mechanical skills and advanced diagnostic capabilities.

What you will do:
Perform complex assembly and disassembly of construction and mining equipment which includes performing diagnostic analysis to identify necessary repairs or improvements to major equipment systems including but not limited to engine, transmission, final drive, hydraulics, electrical, etc. Reads engineering drawings, schematics, service manuals and work orders for directions and safe operating practices.
Perform safety, serviceability, and reparability evaluations on all construction or other equipment.
Operate all types of construction and most maintenance support equipment with full knowledge of machine systems and safe operation.
Communicate through verbal and written reports with technical staff, visitors, customers and other employees.
Uses limited instrumentation to determine the root cause of problems.
Train other mechanics and visitors in performing repair work, reading service manuals, maintenance
manuals and vehicle schematics.
Work effectively in a team environment. Shifts easily into the role of either team member or team leader.
What Skills you will have:
Extensive experience in the repair or modification of construction or mining equipment, generator sets, fixed plant facilities or comparable skills.
Experience with rigging and operating overhead cranes as well as rigging and signaling of mobile cranes.
Ability to communicate effectively with the technical staff, visitors and customers.
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience working in research and development with knowledge of instrumentation and data collection.
Experience with Process, Procedure, and Servicing of Battery Electric Machines.
Possess good math and technical writing skills as well as advanced diagnostic capabilities.
