Valley Healthcare System formerly known as Community Health Center of South Columbus opened its doors August 1994. This name change is reflective of the growth in our size and the services that we provide to the community. We began as a small service within the Baker Village community of the South Columbus area. Today, we provide medical, dental, vision, out-reach services, behavioral health and pharmacy services to residents from the Chattahoochee Valley region and beyond.

Our company is growing rapidly and we are currently in search of providers to help our growing families! We are looking for an experienced provider who is passionate about caring for patients and treating their medical needs. You will perform exams and procedures, counsel patients, and treat patients throughout their lifetime.

Summary:

Provides podiatric services in the general care and treatment of patients in the health center and hospital; diagnoses and treats illnesses or diseases of the patients, instructs patients in their proper care and treatment alternatives, and instructs medical support staff as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts physical examinations and provides minor surgical care and treatment as appropriate within the realm of their specialty.
• Examines entering patients and gives prophylactic treatments.
• Prescribes medication, therapy and orders laboratory tests. 
• Prescribes and directs therapeutic activities
• Attends staff meetings and participates in diagnostic and treatment discussions. 
• Answers correspondence relative to patients’ condition and consults with visiting relatives and friends.
• Serves as a professional backup to the medical staff of the clinics. 
• Serves as the supervising physician for a physician assistant/nurse practitioner should the need arise to add this staff member.
• Provide patients with referral sources that are not within the scope of the physician’s expertise.
• Provide patients with medical care in the hospital. 
• Interpret laboratory tests.
• Consulting with physician referral sources.
• Providing medical direction.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful completion of accredited school of Podiatric.
• Possession of a current, valid Georgia license to practice podiatry.
• Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree
• Board certification in Podiatric Medicine

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. 

Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures and all Federal, State and Local medical service requirements. To include HIPAA Privacy & Security.

Confidentiality (HIPAA): Every employee is required to sign a Pledge of Confidentiality. Failure to comply with our Pledge of Confidentiality can or will lead to immediate termination of employment. Confidentiality applies to a patient’s Personal Health Information (PHI) and includes: written, oral and electronic communications. Each employee has an obligation to maintain confidentiality after their employment/association with this facility ends. 

Security (HIPAA): Every employee is required to protect their computer log-on and password. You must secure your work area prior to leaving it unattended for an extended period of time. You are required to log-off of your computer and secure your work area prior to leaving at the end of the day. If you have a responsibility for closing or locking files, securing equipment, or locking the building and you do not comply with these requirements, you will be subject to reprimand and/or termination based upon the infraction. We are required by law to protect patient privacy, identifiable patient information, and all properties containing such information.
