R&D Process Technician

Job Description
The Process Technician’s primary role is to support successful operations of Beyond Meat’s Commercialization Center (encompassing the R&D pilot plants and saleable production floor). The Process Technician will become an expert in raw material and equipment preparation, equipment operation, equipment maintenance and finished good management in support of pilot trials and saleable production runs. This role will collaborate with the R&D and Process Engineering, Maintenance and Quality team members at Beyond Meat.
TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Pilot & Production Readiness
Assist in maintaining adequate ingredient supply within warehouse/batching area, ordering raw materials when needed
Assist with shipping and receiving of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products
Assemble, run, disassemble, clean, and sanitize equipment, measuring devices and other tools safely and efficiently
Measure, weigh, and batch specific test ingredients in a very precise and careful manner, recording ingredient lot codes for tracking purposes within batching applications
Maintain clean, tidy, organized, efficient pilot and lab spaces in support of team operations. Put items away in designated storage areas.
Calibrate equipment and meters if necessary
Pilot & Saleable Production Operations
Support Process Engineering, Maintenance & Quality in executing pilot trials and saleable production runs, which may include operating equipment, preparing samples, recording data, batching, weighing, packaging, palletizing, etc.
Work with Process Engineering, Maintenance and Quality team on proactively improving processes
Serve as backup as needed for basic Quality team responsibilities in pilot and production runs (i.e. pre-op, recording product weights, temps, etc.)
Support freezer inventory management of all raw materials & finished goods
Maintain a safety-first culture and follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) while on the production floor
Approach all tasks in a meticulous and careful manner with little margin of error
Perform any additional duties, tasks, and/or responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:
1-2 years of proven work experience in a lab or manufacturing setting
Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical assembly, machinery operation, and material preparation
Strong problem solving and equipment troubleshooting skills needed
