Your Specific Responsibilities:

Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the State WIC Program and regulations stated in DHM 150-24.  Provides high and low risk nutrition education contacts as defined by agency policies.  Travels to other outlying clinics as needed and maintains the same client service standards as in the main clinic.  

 

Correctly documents nutritional assessment and care plans in medical records using SOAP or other approved formats.  Entries are correctly dated and signed with title included.

 

Provides nutrition counseling, education and breastfeeding education using approved materials and format.  Assists clients in setting goals for behavioral change and evaluates client progress in meeting goals.

 

Accurately completes reports and data entry into FL-WISE by required deadlines, using WIP manual and DHM-150-24.

 

Participates in preparation and presentation of newsletters, bulletin boards, wellness programs, in-service training and other activities as assigned by supervisor.

 

Attends staff meetings and professional development activities 90% of the time.

 

Provides service to clients in an efficient manner to assure smooth clinic flow and even caseload distribution among nutrition staff. 

Adheres to department policies for sanitation, safety, telephone and computer use. 

 

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.  May be required to use personal vehicle for transportation to assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the science and current practice of food and nutrition, dietetics or food service,
  • Knowledge of normal nutrition principles and food needs throughout the life cycle,
  • Ability to provide nutrition education to others in groups or individual instruction,
  • Ability to determine nutritional needs and develop nutrition education plans for individuals who are not at medical high nutritional risk,
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments,
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures,
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally,
  • Ability to use computers, printers, copier and fax machines,
  • Ability to use a vehicle to get from site to site.

Qualifications:

Minimum -

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university
