Job Summary
Schedule:Days (7am-7pm) and Nights (7pm-7am)
Mandatory weekend shifts every month.
Holiday rotating schedule.
The General Medicine unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a per diem Patient Care Assistant (PCA).
Bigelow 7 is a fast-paced adult inpatient General Medicine unit dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions. The unit cares for medically diverse patient populations, offering staff the opportunity to build strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and interdisciplinary collaboration experience.

Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
-Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
-Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
-Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
-Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
-Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
-Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS] - preferred
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred
Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] - preferred Nursing Assistant - preferred
Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
