What role you will play in our team
The Manufacturing Chemical Process Engineer role is responsible for developing and deploying process and physical chemistry tools, models, and expertise throughout the technology development pipeline, from early-stage research to commercial design. This can involve the use of thermodynamics, molecular transport, and kinetic modeling, as a basis for conversion and separation processes.
What you will do
This position serves as a technical leader by:
- Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Providing support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
- Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
- Organizing and design plant testing and product trials
- Influencing others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
- Working in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
- Interfacing with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
- Leading/support incident investigations as technical lead
- Providing support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
- Providing assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
- Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome
About you
Skills and Qualifications:
- B.S. Chemical Engineering
- 3-10 years of experience in refining and/or chemicals manufacturing roles
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:
- Process design exposure
- Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
- Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
- Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
- Understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)
