Today, we are proud to partner with over 6,000 local churches, and 95,000 volunteers globally to bring hope, healing and transformation to the most vulnerable.

The Church Mobilizer will create and strengthen relationships between World Relief Western NY (WR WNY)and churches throughout Western NY. Under the leadership of the Church and Community Engagement (CCE) Manager, this individual will reach out to church leaders and congregations in the region to raise awareness and support for World Relief's mission and programs. 
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until December 16, 2024 and contingent upon funding extension.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Mobilize and equip local churches in Western New York to engage in ministry with refugees and other immigrants.
  • Set up opportunities for World Relief to table, speak, and teach at churches throughout Western NY and make sure a member of the WR staff is prepped to attend these events.
  • Build relationships with church leaders and congregations in the region to raise awareness and support for WR WNY’s mission and programs.
  • Recruit new churches to partner with WR WNY.
  • Strengthen partnerships with key churches. 
  • Share the vision and mission of World Relief at church leader events throughout Western NY.
  • Invite churches to partner with WR WNY through giving, advocating, praying, and serving.
  • Recruit volunteers and Good Neighbor Teams, connecting them with the Volunteer Specialist and Good Neighbor Team Specialist for training and support.
  • Facilitate church-based outreach and advocacy initiatives in the local community.
  • Collaborate with World Relief staff to develop and implement church mobilization strategies tailored to the Western New York context.
  • Personally invite church leaders to the annual Good Neighbor Gala
  • Speak, preach, or table on Sunday mornings at partner churches, sharing the mission and vision of World Relief and inspiring congregations to get involved.
  • Track conversations, events, contacts, and accounts in World Relief’s data management system.
  • Monitor and report on church mobilization activities and outcomes in the region.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • The ideal candidate will have a heart for connecting churches with refugees and other immigrants and will take initiative in building new relationships for World Relief WNY.
  • The ideal candidate will also have a strong knowledge of World Relief and/or churches in Western NY and be able to learn quickly and adapt to an ever-changing field. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Excellent communication and relational skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with churches and community organizations.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in church ministry or community outreach in Western
