At Mozilla this role can vary but typically a Staff Engineer is a domain expert who leads others within a single team to tackle multi-month projects. Tasks that may be initially ambiguous or require significant planning and require them to influence or direct the work of several engineers. They sequence deliverables and manage risks in their team's projects, provide feedback on our strategy and goals affecting the team, and turn our strategy into action for their team members. Staff Software Engineers mentor others by stewarding some responsibilities to more junior and senior engineers so they can take on new ones. They collaborate with management on building team consensus and providing direction. Staff Software Engineers identify gaps and opportunities for improvement to enable a culture of inclusion and allyship, at all levels of the organization.</span></p> <p><span></span></p> <p><strong>About this team and role:</strong></p> <p><span>Join the global DOM: Core team of engineers passionate about the Web.  We are the team responsible for HTML elements, document model, page navigation, user interaction, and text editing in Gecko, the engine that powers Firefox. Our responsibilities include implementing and improving key web specifications such as </span><a href="https://dom.spec.whatwg.org/"><span>DOM</span></a><span>, </span><a href="https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/"><span>HTML</span></a><span>,</span><a href="https://www.w3.org/TR/uievents/"><span> UI Events</span></a><span>, </span><a href="https://www.w3.org/TR/clipboard-apis/"><span>Clipboard APIs</span></a><span>, </span><a href="https://www.w3.org/TR/selection-api/"><span>Selection API</span></a><span>, among others. We push the boundaries of what the Web is capable of. We are thrilled to enable Web developers to create modern custom user interfaces in a standardized way.</span></p> <p><span>In this role, you’ll be instrumental in the continued advancement of Gecko and the Web platform at large. Opportunities to collaborate with the broad Firefox  team and other browser teams abound. You will implement standardized APIs . You will influence Web feature design. Your responsibilities will include writing code, tests, specifications as well as building prototypes and solving problems, while continuously learning and growing as a technical leader.</span></p> <p><span>Are you deeply committed to the open Web?
