This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. What You’ll Work On

• Observe and learn how the various Plant operating areas interact and impact upon each other during the daily operations.
• Obtain actual experience in the areas of leading a team, achievement of operational, quality, safety and financial goals.
• Meet production requirements.
• Operate the production crew to be within budget from an overtime, material usage, expense and quality basis. c.
• Learn the proper employee relations techniques and requirements.
• Counseling skills.
• Open door policy.
• Safety training.
• Employee evaluations and reviews This position is designed to develop supervisory skills needed to run a production crew of 10 - 20 employees.
• Trainee must deal directly with hourly production employees and learn to motivate, direct, as well as deal with employee relations situations.
• In addition, skills are needed in dealing with peers in other departments to achieve the goals of the department and plant.You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in food science, business, industrial engineering desired, or equivalent experience. 
• Relevant business experience utility operator and crew leader roles minimum 3 years or work experience combined with education.
