As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help design and develop engine controls and avionics that meet Blue Origin’s rocket engine requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will contribute to engine avionics design and development by defining system, hardware and software architectures that meet program requirements while enabling re-use at an appropriate level. This individual will also support the definition of best practices, processes, lessons learned and serve as a technical content leader within the Engine Avionics organization. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and Support trade studies to select power conversion architectures for the engine avionics organization
- Contribute to the creation of requirements for power conversion applications as used in Blue’s avionics assemblies and products
- Develop power conversion circuits for incorporation into flight capable controls meeting all environmental requirements including reliability, temperature, radiation and shock/vibration.
- Direct the worst case analysis of power conversion circuits to survive worst case conditions such as component variation, aging effects and storage
- Lead and support peer reviews of power conversion designs and productization readiness
- Ensure engine avionics sub-system development programs adhere to software and hardware safety standards such as DO-160, or DO-254.
- Work with other internal organizations to collect, develop, and share best practices, lessons learned, engine avionics roadmaps, development tools and other relevant technical material that benefits Team Blue.
- Collaborate with suppliers, supply chain and manufacturing to evaluate component parts and sub-assemblies that address roadmap and program needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. Advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience developing complex electronics for aerospace applications.
- Industry expert at electronic power conversion, specifically, voltage regulator design for power levels below 1KW.
- Expert at implementing voltage regulator architectures such as boost, buck, linear, LDO. Experience implementing voltage regulators with multi-phase architectures.
- Proficient/expert at specifying magnetic components (inductors, transformers) as used in power conversion voltage regulators.
- Skilled at selecting semiconductor controls and power devices for voltage regulator applications as used in high reliability radiation environments.
- Proficient at developing verification and test methods to prove voltage regulator performance. Hands on proficiency with lab equipment and test methods.
- A strong background in aerospace hardware/electronics. Experience with DO-160 and DO-254 like development programs
- Expert user of electrical design simulation tools
- Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
- Ability to communicate analysis results effectively
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

- Experience developing products within a strong systems engineering infrastructure
- Expertise developing motor control drive electronics
- Experience with control systems within aerospace industry
