Job Description
One of our premier chemical clients is in need of a qualified Project Manager to lead the software selection process for a new R&D workflow tool(s). The right candidate will work with our client’s R&D team to define requirements and conduct a VOC to understand scientists’ needs.
Project Length: 6-12 months
Location: Remote, East Coast preferred
Compensation: This role will compensate between $80-$90/HR W2 depending upon years of experience, education, and relevant certifications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the software selection process for a new R&D workflow tool(s)
- Work with R&D team to define requirements and conduct a VOC to understand scientists’ needs.
- Define/design the future state Research & Development Workflow Process and define an objective process to select a software solution to enable the desired capabilities.
- Conduct thorough requirements gathering sessions with key stakeholders in the research and development group to understand their current workflow, challenges, and future needs.
- Analyze and document the specific software requirements for the R&D workflow solution, considering factors such as data management, collaboration, scalability, and integration with existing systems.
- Research and evaluate available software solutions in the market that align with the identified requirements, considering both off-the-shelf and customizable options.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Information (RFI) document to be used in the vendor selection process.
- Collaborate with vendors and manage the proposal review process, including organizing demonstrations and conducting thorough evaluations of each solution's capabilities.
- Work closely with the internal IT team to ensure that the selected software solution aligns with the organization's overall IT strategy and infrastructure.
- Provide recommendations to the R&D group based on the evaluation of different software solutions, highlighting pros and cons.
- Facilitate decision-making sessions with key stakeholders to finalize the selection of the R&D workflow solution.
- Develop a detailed implementation plan outlining milestones, timelines, and resources required for the successful integration of the selected software solution.
- Coordinate with the chosen vendor and internal teams to ensure a smooth implementation process, addressing any issues or roadblocks that may arise.
- Provide training and support to end-users during the transition to the new research workflow solution.
- Document and communicate the entire software selection and implementation process for future reference and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree: MBA is a plus.
- 10-15 years’ direct work experience in a project management capacity.
- 5+ years chemical manufacturing R&D experience or similar industry, e.g. Pharmaceuticals
- Experience with R&D processes.
- Experience managing the implementation of business applications.
- Must have experience leading a similar software selection process
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive presentation skills
- Vendor Management experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven experience effectively communicating with executive stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
