Salary Range: $87,100 - $94,700

The BNSF Railway Government Affairs Department is a critical component of our company. As our voice in Washington, D.C., this team works tirelessly to advocate for and influence policies that can impact BNSF and the railroad industry. By engaging with policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders, we can shape the future of transportation and ensure the success of our business.
This is a full-time position located in Washington, D.C. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.
The Manager Federal Government Affairs plays a key role in helping to manage and support the day-to-day activities of a dynamic BNSF D.C. government relations team.
Key responsibilities may include:
Help lead the preparation and execution of BNSF Railway external outreach and advocacy activities with Congress, federal agencies and third party stakeholders in Washington, DC.
Support internal senior executive and employee communications about key political, policymaking and regulatory activities.
Provide strategic and tactical advice to advance company policymaking and regulatory priorities, and help research policy positions and prepare background materials to support strategy execution.
Manage charitable giving and support the company's Political Action Commitee (RailPAC), including opportunities to organize, attend and represent BNSF at fundraising and charitable events.
Assist in managing Congressional ethics and lobbying compliance reporting obligations.
Monitor and report on legislative, regulatory, and D.C. media developments, to include attendance at congressional and agency regulatory hearings.
Assist in planning and supporting BNSF Network/facility/headquarters visits by public officials and others related to public policy purposes.
Assist in managing and supporting office organizational systems, including filing and document retention practices.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.
