The Role

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer with a passion for automation, efficiency, and cyber threat detection. Location

This is a work from home position within the US. 

The Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers, stakeholders, and cross functional teams to identify, engineer, and implement security automation and orchestration solutions that improve Lumen’s cybersecurity capability and posture.  
• Continuously identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline security processes
• Apply agile methodologies to drive innovation, adaptability, and rapid responsiveness in security operations.
• Work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong communication skills to ensure effective coordination across teams.
• Develop and maintain key security metrics to measure impact, optimize technologies, and enhance processes.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and workgroup processes, including change and outage management.
• Participate in on-call rotation, providing critical support and incident response as needed.  

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science / engineering with three years of relevant experience or master’s degree with two years of experience in security engineering.
• Two plus years’ experience with Python, Scala, and/or Java and scripting languages such as RegEx and PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or other big data processing frameworks.
• Understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and database management.
• Understanding of industry standard incident response concepts and frameworks (NIST Incident Handling, Cyber Kill Chain, etc.).
• Understanding of common computing platforms, including Windows (workstation & server), Linux (server), Macintosh (workstation).
• Self starter with strong work ethic, capable of thriving in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams. 

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
