This entry level role will involve increasing responsibility with a focus on developing onsite technical experience and technical writing skills to support client facing on-site assessments. This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field such as environmental sciences, engineering, and/or architecture. This role must be able to leverage prior educational background and technical expertise gained through formal training and on-the-job experience. This position will involve travel to client project sites.


The Project Assessor in Training will participate in a 1- to 3-month training program to develop technical expertise, onsite assessment skills, and project writing proficiency. During the initial training period, the Project Assessor in Training will shadow experienced Project Assessors, observing and assisting with data collection, measurements, and project documentation at client sites. This individual will be trained to review available previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records for the property and for the surrounding area and reports data in accordance with ASTM criteria and client’s scope of work, making all reasonable efforts to identify the historical use of the property and surrounding properties using their specialized knowledge.

 

After the initial training period, the Project Assessor in Training will transition into a Project Assessor role, responsible for leading the completion and understanding the outcome of all assigned building assessment projects and related services. This work will be carried out in accordance with ASTM standards and/or client-specific scopes of work, and under the guidance of senior professionals.

 

To excel in this role, one will leverage their knowledge of buildings, construction, and technical standards obtained through prior educational experience, as well as the technical training provided by Bureau Veritas. One will be required to discuss and inquire about relevant information regarding the assigned project site with the site contact and associated municipal facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.
 

  1. Content of technical training curriculum includes, but is not limited to: Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Facility Condition Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic reports, structural surveys, roofing surveys, ADA checklists, pre-construction document reviews, construction monitoring, and other property related services.
  2. Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, or Train (50% of workweek) to client sites across the U.S. Common patterns of travel include one day on-site followed by one day at home.  Overnight stays away from home may be required, along with weekend travel.
