SVP Senior Controls Compliance Manager-OMBP

About the role

To provide overall OMBP management and operational leadership for Business Controls and Compliance requirements for the DoD Banking Contract and NFCU connection related to compliance and controls program. In-charge of daily operations related to role and impacts in global operations.  Primary POC for all OMBP connection points related to internal controls, legal, escheatment, and regulatory actions to include privacy with specific understanding of the Program’s responsibilities under GDPR.  The role includes managing the individuals or leadership team in current structure who are responsible for areas such as escheatment, fraud, legal, internal controls, procedures, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-money Laundering, and compliance training.  Actively partner with NFCU corporate contacts to ascertain and support the Program’s controls modernization and adherence to compliance and regulatory activities.

  • Provide overall leadership for Business Controls, Escheatment, Fraud, BSA/AML, Compliance Training, and Procedures business units
  • Collaborate with Home Office and NFCU leadership with a focus on the best possible outcomes for the Program based on industry regulatory and controls requirements
  • Modernize the internal control processes with balance on risk and efficiency while leveraging technology and local market and back-office leadership
  • Demonstrate actions which bring collaboration between business units and teams delivering successful outcomes
  • Partner and guide OMBP BSA/AML team with NFCU processes and regulatory requirements 
  • Monitor ICR trends and implement action steps resolving process gaps and procedural inefficiencies while analyzing the control methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to be a key team player supporting the many aspects and leaders assigned to deliver the Global Program 
  • Partner with the OMBP GDPR legal resource ensuring the OMBP is compliant with European privacy and data transfer requirements
  • Ensure the OMBP procedure process is kept current and supports a clear path in delivering the specific business requirement noted in the written procedure
  • Facilitate regular briefings and key meetings with stakeholders and staff regarding active projects and coverage of all OMBP control and compliance actions with specific focus on partnering with NFCU peers
  • Work with stakeholders and product management supporting business processes and procedures to include ownership of PIA documentation
  • Monitor program performance metrics using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques to identify gaps and ensure action for remediation
  • Ensure team is staffed appropriately to deliver business goals and expectations while creating bench strength supporting operational controls environment
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of technical employment in associated roles of compliance, financial institution regulations, GDPR and privacy, and business controls
  • 5 years of direct associate management focused on areas related to role description
  • Ability to work between the Program and NFCU corporation focused on the best outcomes related to industry, contract, and legal directions
  • Demonstrated skill of obtaining peer support and buy-in of senior leadership
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of controls and industry compliance requirements to include Privacy, GDPR, BSA, AML, and other required standards
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Experience building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact with proven skills building bridges and partnerships in high pressure environment
  • Significant skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Experience in building strategic and execution focused plans and alliances with partner leadership
  • Experience resolving conflicting requests and meeting changing requirements
  • Presentation skills with executive presence
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of OMBP functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives
  • Bachelor's Degree

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
