Program Specialist-Virtual School

The Virtual Charter School Program Specialist will play a key role in supporting the planning, development, and launch of a new virtual charter school designed to provide high-quality, flexible, and inclusive learning opportunities for students across Florida.  This position will work collaboratively with education leadership team and school operational staff to ensure the successful implementation of academic programs, student support services, and compliance systems.   This is an 11 month position.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Development & Implementation

• Lead the design and rollout of instructional models, virtual curriculum, and student engagement strategies aligned with state standards and the school's mission including writing curriculum for submission to DOE for approval to become a VIP.   This should combine live virtual lessons, self-paced exploration and interactive digital content.
• Support the creation of policies, procedures, and workflows for virtual learning operations including academic calendars, daily schedules and asynchronous learning expectations.
• Identify and test innovative ed-tech tools to support differentiated and project-based learning including piloting with UCP Charter Schools brick and mortar schools.

Student and Family Support

• Help establish systems for enrollment, orientation, onboarding, and ongoing family engagement in a virtual setting.
• Assist with follow up meetings for potential new students/assist in the enrollment process.
• Collaborate with team to ensure student services are effectively integrated into virtual platforms.

Data and Compliance

• Assist with developing student progress tracking systems and virtual attendance monitoring processes.

Professional Development & Team Support

• Co-design and facilitate professional learning on digital tools, student engagement strategies and personalized learning. 
• Foster a culture of innovation, creativity and continuous improvement among staff and stakeholders.  

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Research best practices in virtual education and recommend improvements based on data and stakeholder feedback.
• Support pilots or testing of new virtual platforms, curriculum products, and instructional tools.

Direct Instruction:

• Provide live, small group virtual instruction in key content areas (literacy or math) to support academic growth and model high quality virtual teaching.
• Use formative assessment tools to tailor instruction and support intervention efforts in collaboration with instructional staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Training: 

• BA – Elementary Education, ESE or Related Field (Masters strongly preferred)
• Florida Teacher Certification – K-5th Grade, ESE and Reading Endorsed.

Minimum Experience:

• 5 years or more experience classroom teaching experience including blended/virtual teaching for students with and without disabilities.
• Demonstrated success achieving student learning gains using virtual/blended teaching.
• Experience writing/adapting curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.
• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with digital tools, learning management systems (LMS) and other technology.
• Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education.
