Location: Gaston Medical AssociatesPosition: Medical AssistantJob Type: Full Time Hours: Monday – Friday 8:20a-5:20p; every 4th Saturday 8:45a-12p
Overview: We are looking for a Medical Assistant (Registered or Certified) to join our family. This position’s clinical duties include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the provider during the examination. They may receive direction from an MD, mid-level provider and or the manager. Administrative duties may include, but not limited to answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.

Medical Assistant (Registered or Certified) qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED;
- Certification(s)/Licensure: RMA, CMA
Medical Assistant (Registered or Certified) Key Responsibilities:
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned and within the MA scope of practice. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to preparing for nest days visits
- Assist patient in navigating care through the encounter process, vital signs, procedures, patient education and
- Accurately document all aspects of patient encounters required for job functions
- Tracks and document closed loop communication with patients, including but not limited to labs, return calls, refills and more
- Communicate with external and internal parties as needed to facilitate continuity of care
- Fulfills supportive assignment on time and unprompted. Assignments may include but are not limited performing controls, instrument maintenance, infection control, ordering, sorting, storing supplies, and restocking
- Patient teaching and care plan support
- Guard patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times
- Reaching out to chronically ill patients monthly to check-in on healthcare status and any special needs
- Participates in staff meetings as required
- Complete annual competencies within the required period
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing
