The Executive Director, Chief of Staff for the Enterprise Strategy Office will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term strategic direction of Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). This role involves leading strategic initiatives, overseeing operations, and ensuring alignment across various business units to achieve overarching company objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational management skills, with a proven ability to drive organizational growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Chief Strategy Officer to develop, execute, and refine corporate strategies that enhance business performance and drive sustainable growth.
- Lead the formulation and implementation of key strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with BMS's mission and objectives.
- Oversee the operational effectiveness of the Enterprise Strategy Office, optimizing processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and alignment on strategic priorities.
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization, facilitating consensus and ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Navigate ambiguity and solve multifaceted business challenges by synthesizing data, stakeholder input, and operational constraints into actionable solutions.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to inform strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Assist in defining and tracking key performance indicators to gauge the success of strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for senior management, including the executive leadership team and board of directors.
- Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence within the Enterprise Strategy Office.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Strategy, or a related field; MBA or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 15+ years) in strategic planning, business operations, or management consulting at a senior leadership level, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex projects and lead strategic initiatives from concept to execution.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a strong focus on data-driven outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with agility and resilience.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrates robust leadership skills, including expertise in managing matrix teams.
- In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry, including regulatory environments, market dynamics, and emerging trends.
