Brief Overview:

The Principal Software Engineer will play a critical role within the engineering organization here at Amwell. We're looking for a passionate, results driven Principal Software Engineer to work on our cloud-based health care solution. The successful candidate will have a track record of leading software development projects in a continuous delivery-based environment. 

Our software combines the best elements of the web, video, and telephony to bring patients and health care providers together in innovative new ways.   

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new functionality for Amwell’s Next Generation Software.
  • Drive quality and best practices into development through design and code reviews.
  • Active contributor throughout all of SDLC from design, through development, release and ongoing operational support in the cloud.
  • Engage effectively with Architecture, Product, Visual Design and UX.
  • Mentor and lead junior, mid-level and senior engineers.
  • Exhibit strong cross team collaboration skills and technical strategic leadership.
  • Leading design and implementation efforts that may require multiple teams.
  • Champion the use of real time monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance and responsiveness.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of full stack software development experience with an exposure to JavaScript (TypeScript, Angular, NodeJS/NestJS)
  • 5+ years of delivering highly scalable cloud-based applications.
  • Experience with cloud-based application management in AWS or similar technologies.
  • Proven track record of mentoring others, have the desire and ability to provide team members with the technical guidance needed to grow professionally.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and shifting requirements.

The typical base salary range for this position is $160,960 - $221,320.  The actual salary offer will ultimately depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, relevant education, experience, complexity or specialization of talent, and other objective factors.  In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus based on a combination of company performance and employee performance. Long-term incentive and short-term variable compensation may be offered as part of the compensation package dependent on the role.
