Strategic Defense Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of multi-domain Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) mission systems for aircraft and ground stations supporting U.S. military customers. This role focuses on translating customer needs and requirements into robust system solutions, contributing across the full spectrum of hardware and software systems—from standalone “black box” components to complex, end-to-end platform architectures.

What YOU will do: 

  • Capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements 

  • Design, develop, and model systems and sub-systems

  • Develop and verify test procedures at the system and sub-system levels 

  • Plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals 

  • Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects

  • Interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production 

  • Represent Systems engineering team at internal and external stakeholder meetings   

Qualifications YOU must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving system/sub-system requirements

  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools 

  • Experience in system/sub-system design definition 

Qualifications We prefer:

  • VLF, LF, HF, V/UHF, and/or MILSATCOM

  • SysML implementation via Cameo/MagicDraw/Rhapsody 

  • DOORS

  • Agile development 

  • Earned Value Management (EVM) 

  • Communication with external stakeholders 

  • Bids, proposals, and pursuits  

  • Peer review, configuration, and change management processes
