Department:  Visitor Development           

FLSA Status: Part-Time / Non-Exempt

Reports to: Café Manager     

Direct Reports: Café Lead Associate

Compensation: $14.70 plus possible tips

Summary:    The Line Cook is the heart of the expanding kitchen at Delish. Between sandwich artistry, cooking delicious bites, and preparing all kinds of food options for our guests, Line Cooks will find a fun and fulfilling experience every day at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Take daily inventory of produce and ordering to ensure proper item freshness
  • Follow food safety and FIFO protocols
  • Safely prepare and organize produce for Associates using sharp and/or hot equipment
  • Prepare meals both in advance and made-to-order
  • Meet Department Revenue Goals
  • Operate espresso machine, tea brewer, and milk frother
  • Refresh café dining room by wiping tables, sweeping floors, and removing waste
  • Clean and disinfect front-of-house and back-of-house café equipment
  • Communicate positively and professionally to co-workers at all levels of the organization
  • Stay up to date on museum policies, exhibits, and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Creative approaches to problems and unique scenarios
  • Availability on weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some evenings for Special Events
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines and changing environments
  • Experience working with Children and Families
  • Comfortable and capable around knives, slicers, and other sharp equipment
  • Comfortable and capable around ovens, grills, griddles, and warming equipment
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Basic Mathematic Skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages desirable

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
