Food Service- General Worker

General Food Service Worker
10-month hourly employee
4 Hours per day

Job Summary:

1. Prepare cold food and pre-made items for serving of food.
2. Set up and replenish food serving areas in compliance with the serving requirements of the federal meal program.
3. Provide friendly, courteous service efficiently to all customers.
4. Maintain operation of vending machines
5. Maintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with locally and federally established health, safety, and sanitation requirements.
6. Operate food service equipment.
7. Clean and sanitize meal service, prep, and storage areas, as well as kitchen equipment and smallwares.
8. Maintain logs and records, as applicable to daily tasks.
9. Perform routine cashiering duties.
10. Complete regular training and attend in-service meetings.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

1. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills
2. Demonstrate good organizational skills
3. Demonstrate the ability to multi-task
4. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team
5. Demonstrate strong cashiering skills
6. Hold an Illinois Food Handler license
7. Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift weight up to 25 pounds.
8. Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and making change.

Working Conditions:
Is under the supervision of the Food Service Manager and Assistant Food Service Manager

Terms of Employment
Salary and benefits to be established by the agreement between the Board of Education and the United Support Staff Council.
