About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Manager, Market Research to provide vital expertise to the commercial organization, aiding the promotion and launch of key Axsome products. Responsibilities include leading insight generation through primary market research (qualitative and quantitative), data analytics, and innovative methodologies. Additionally, this role supports competitive intelligence efforts across various assets. This position will work directly with the commercial leadership team (Marketing, Sales, Value & Access) in planning, budgeting, directing, and executing all marketing research initiatives in support of commercialization strategy for key products. This critical role will report to the Associate Director, Market Research.
This role is based at our HQ in New York City and will be required to be onsite at least three days per week.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Turn unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and actionable deliverables
- Plan, design, and conduct key strategic and highly complex market research programs. Leading the entire process including research design, sampling strategy, data collection, and data analysis plan
- Provide key learnings and recommendations aligned to business objectives
- Translate and synthesize various data, research, and analyses into actionable, compelling insights that deepen customer understanding across the CNS pipeline
- Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in market research
- Prioritize research resources to impact critical business issues and decisions
- Ensures continuous alignment and strategic partnership with Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Executive Leadership
- Consider alternative methodologies to collect the voice of customer (HCPs, Patients, and Payers), being open to innovative methods beyond standard approaches
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with best-in-class insights vendors
- Ensure that all projects comply Axsome’s SOPs and general market research guidelines, meeting quality, timeliness, and budget expectations
- Some travel required (a few weeks in the year for potentially conducting in person market research)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree, including MBA, or Masters in related field preferred
- 5+ years qualitative and/or quantitative market research experience
- 3-5 years pharmaceutical or biotech market research, brand marketing, sales, or other commercial leadership experience
- Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of secondary data sources used in pharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated exceptional strategic / critical thinking abilities and business acumen
- Demonstrated analytical skills - understands the advantages and limits of different analytical/quantitative approaches
- Familiarity with launch and pre-launch planning, tracking and measurement
- Familiarity with direct to HCP, Consumer, and Payer strategies and tactics
- Demonstrated ability to dig deep and the uncover the “why” beneath observed HCP behaviors
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
- Ability to balance multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously
Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
