Our Internal Medicine Residency program located at the Jefferson Abington campus is seeking a Primary Care Internist and Clinician Educator to work with our rotating Internal Medicine residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal applicant will be a member of the Core Faculty with the Internal Medicine Residency program in the Department of Medicine, and a major component of this position will be educating our internal medicine residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Attending on a teaching only/Resident staffed inpatient team, clinical hours within the ambulatory outpatient internal medicine practice, as well as time spent precepting in the outpatient resident clinic
  • Provides primary care medical services and consultation to patients with multiple co-morbidities and behavioral health issues. Focus on providing quality care to patients while reducing overall healthcare costs delivering quality care with a customized patient experience.
  • Supervises and provides teaching services for residents, medical students, and other trainees, as designated by the Clinical Director and the Division Chair.
  • Properly executes/prepares documentation that pertains to medical billing and patient coding.
  • Works with office manager, RNs, social work, outreach coordinators to perform and document necessary clinical components to ensure care gaps are addressed and closed.
  • Provides each resident with timely feedback and evaluation.
  • Engages in evidence-based strategies to maintain and improve patient experience.
  • Participates in care delivered through special program designed to meet community needs

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school or foreign equivalent
  • Completion of an approved internal medicine residency program
  • Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted PA medical license & DEA
  • 3-5 years of experience post residency/fellowship training
  • 3+ years' experience teaching residents and/or medical students
  • Addiction medicine training highly preferred
