Director, IT Operations

About The Role:

The Director of IT Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure, systems, operations, & security in VentureWell’s MacOS environment. Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise and Shared Services, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT environment. The Director of IT Operations leads a team of IT professionals and collaborates with various departments to align technology initiatives with the organization's strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership (50 % of time)

• Develop and execute strategies for the IT Operations department, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term technology objectives.Ensure the effective administration, maintenance, and performance of critical IT systems, including hardware, software, and databases.
• Manage the IT department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of financial resources and tracking expenditures. Lead, develop, and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
• Serve as a key leadership group member within Enterprise & Shared Services, growing the culture within IT Operations as well as across ESS teams - centering diversity, equity & inclusion in meaningful ways through policies, processes, and a sense of belonging for staff.

IT Operations, Security, and Compliance (25% of time)

• Oversee the management and optimization of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, data centers, and cloud services. 
• Develop the organization-wide strategy for the deployment of security measures (including and not limited to; network security, cloud security, data security, threat intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) security), compliance standards, and disaster recovery plans.
• Oversee IT projects and initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with business requirements. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the performance and effectiveness of IT operations.

Collaborative Solutions (25% of time)

• Oversee the delivery of IT services and support to internal stakeholders, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, and responsiveness. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential to enhance business operations and competitiveness.
• Collaborate with department heads and business leaders to understand their technology needs and align IT solutions with organizational goals.Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and agreements to optimize services and costs.

What You Bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience is required. 
• Proven experience in senior IT leadership roles, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in managing IT operations within complex organizations.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable IT strategies and initiatives.
• Strong expertise in managing and optimizing IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud services.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices, including threat detection, prevention, and incident response. Familiarity with relevant cybersecurity regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, NIST).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing IT teams.
• Experience in managing IT budgets and optimizing resource allocation.
• Experience in negotiating and managing relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to oversee IT projects effectively.
