Athletic TrainerJob Description Summary
Working with assigned teams, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and related illness. This position will receive general supervision and report to the Head Athletic Trainer.Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Provide healthcare for student-athlete teams as assigned
- Perform treatments to prepare student-athletes for practice and competition
- Organize and maintain daily medical records, including daily treatment logs using an Electronic Medical Record system
- Evaluate injuries in order to design and execute appropriate rehabilitation exercises.
- Communicate with coaching staffs, athletes, physicians, co-workers, parents, and consultants regarding the athlete’s healthcare
- Make necessary medical referrals
- Rehabilitation of student-athletes after surgery
- Plan and administer emergency care as needed
- Ensure that University, NCAA, federal and state policies, procedures, and/or regulations are followed
- Instruct and evaluate athletic training students, supervise part-time staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor 's Degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- A Master’s degree preferred
- BOC certification in Athletic Training and 2-3 years’ experience, preferably working with student-athletes, is required.
- Must be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Strong manual therapy skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and willingness to work nights/weekends/holidays and travel as required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
