About the role

JOB SUMMARY

Under administrative review, performs management level work directed toward the planning, implementation and coordination of one or more major programs for an association, non-profit or similar organization. This position will manage multiple steps of the brain tissue donation process with potential donors, including engaging in recruitment activities, completing paperwork for registering the donor, arranging the tissue harvest, and following up with donors and their families before and after the brain donation.  The position will train brain tissue donation coordinators at several sites in other states. This position will be responsible for developing strong and strategic partnerships with organizations at the local, county, regional, state, national and international levels to support project goals for increasing awareness of the importance of brain health and brain donation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination. Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.  Three years’ experience in project management, program management development, administration or supervisory experience required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Manages and oversees the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of major projects.  Assumes major responsibility for coordinating the successful and timely completion of the tasks within projects.
  2. Creates original patient\research participant education materials (booklets, audio-visual materials for participant/family instruction, handouts) to support health promotion.
  3. Provides educational programs and consultation to participants, families, agencies, and community organizations.
  4. Serves as a community resource; directs patients and families to agencies or services that may be needed. 
  5. Actively participates in or creates outreach/community education and/or early detection/screening events.
  6. Consents participants to brain tissue donation and research studies in-person and remotely.
  7. Facilitates focus groups, community studios, advisory board meetings as needed.
  8. Develops a strategic plan for reaching communities for health promotion and research engagement.
  9. Serves as the program liaison, spokesperson and representative.
  10. Arranges, implements, and facilitates team meetings to achieve results. Attends meetings with appropriate staff and faculty as necessary to provide and gather information. Promotes a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. 
  11. Ensures that all aspects of the projects are conducted in accordance to the sponsor requirements, study contract and timelines.
  12. Provides guidance to others. Designs forms, newsletters, web pages and other tools as appropriate to ensure the success of assigned projects.
  13. Serves as the program liaison, spokesperson and representative.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent oral, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with adults at all educational levels (both written and verbal) Effective organizational and time-management skills
  • Competent with computer systems, and applications (such as creating PowerPoint slides)
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in daily routines and prioritize competing requests
  • Skilled at public speaking
  • Ability to travel in state, and nationally 
  • Ability to drive to locations for in-person presentations and meetings
  • Always demonstrates teamwork and professionalism in working with others
