About the role

WellSpan Medical Weight Management is seeking a dynamic Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician who is board certified in Obesity Medicine.  A good understanding of telemedicine & Epic is preferred.  This collegial team is separate from Bariatric Surgery and works collaboratively to provide patients with the best care possible.  The ideal candidate will be adaptable, compassionate & open minded and comfortable supervising CRNPs.

Practice Specifics:

  • Innovative providers include a lead physician & several experienced CRNPs.
  • Program Administrator & experienced practice managers.
  • Prior authorizations handled by a dedicated team.
  • Strong referral base from a 6-county area & focus on increased patient access. 
  • Hybrid model of remote/in person.
  • 40-minute new patient & 20-minute follow-up.
  • May eventually develop a Pediatric Weight Management Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Exercise autonomy in clinical decision-making
  • Diagnose and treat many common acute and chronic problems
  • Prescribe and manage medications and other therapies
  • Provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic health services
  • Perform physical exams and health histories
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
  • Perform procedures as applicable to specialty
  • Practice in collaboration with all members of the health care team and refers to other providers when necessary
  • Engage in research, education, patient advocacy, and administrative activities
  • Acts as an educator to mid-levels, nursing, and administrative staff within the office
  • Dictates, reviews, and completes medical record upon completion of applicable visit or procedure
  • Obtains necessary CME credits in order to maintain necessary state licensure
  • Participates in monthly provider and staff meetings and other requested meetings
  • Assigns appropriate CPT and ICD9 codes to office and inpatient visits
  • Responds to messages and phone calls in a prompt and timely fashion

Common Expectations:

  • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
  • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
