POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Paralegal- Labor & Employment role manages projects related to labor and employment (L&E) from initiation to completion. This role provides key support to internal and external counsel on L&E-related litigation, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings, while exercising professional judgment and discretion. This position reports to the company’s L&E attorney(s) within the legal department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with in-house and external counsel on discovery requests, witness interviews, file maintenance, and document production. (25%)
- Respond to employee personnel file requests, subpoenas and other legal process concerning employees. (15%)
- Develop, manage, and report appropriate metrics on L&E compliance and litigation matters (including administrative charges, demand letters, and arbitrations). (15%)
- Lead and manage L&E compliance projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project metrics and goals. (15%)
- Develop risk management strategies related to L&E compliance and implement corrective actions as needed. (15%)
- Regularly review and provide guidance to Human Resources on policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. (10%)
- Perform related duties as assigned by the company’s L&E attorney(s)(5%).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in law, human resources, business, or related field.
- 7+ years’ experience as a paralegal, in legal project management, HR compliance, or related field
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations
