WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

The UX Foundry team is responsible for building and maintaining cross-platform UI components that power a wide range of Box applications. We’re a collaborative, fast-moving team that creates reusable, shareable UI elements to accelerate product development across internal teams and enable seamless integration for third-party developers embedding Box functionality into their own products.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll bring a strong technical voice to the team and uphold high standards for code quality and maintainability. You’ll help shape the architecture, design, and implementation of cutting-edge tools and frameworks that bridge design and development—transforming UI mockups into scalable, performant code using the latest AI capabilities. You’ll play a critical role in our strategic vision—helping drive the automated generation of shared components from design files and building cross-platform UI systems; leading efforts that transform how engineers at Box build user interfaces. You’ll own complex projects with both internal and external dependencies, giving you influence across multiple teams at Box as well as with our enterprise customers—some of the biggest tech companies in the world.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, cross-platform, reusable UI components used across multiple Box applications and by external developers integrating Box functionality.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering leaders to align on priorities and execute on our strategic roadmap, taking features from concept to launch.
• Drive the ideation, prototyping, and iteration of new UI patterns and frameworks, leveraging AI and modern front-end best practices.
• Partner closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to translate Box’s design system into robust, high-quality UI components— streamlining the design-to-code process.
• Lead development on complex, multi-team projects with internal and external dependencies, influencing architecture and technical direction across Box.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and uphold high standards for code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Continuously monitor and optimize component performance and the overall developer experience, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture by actively participating in agile rituals, team meetings, and providing thoughtful feedback and support.
• Participate in our on-call rotation, and be available during on-call shifts to respond to and triage any issues that arise.

WHO YOU ARE

Required skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Skilled at translating design mockups into production-ready UI components.
• Experience building UI libraries or frameworks used across multiple products or platforms.
• Strong understanding of component-based architecture, performance optimization techniques, security best practices, and accessibility standards.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Clear communicator with strong code review and technical mentorship skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a passion for creating developer-friendly products.
