Responsibilities & Qualifications
Position Overview:
The Novelis Aerospace Team is seeking a Customer Service Representative who will report to the Director of Sales, Aerospace, North America. As Novelis continues to embark on a journey of growth and digital transformation, bringing the best products to our global customers in aerospace, the Customer Service Representative will be responsible for managing order flows, ensuring timely payment of invoices and achieving a high level of customer satisfaction. This position will serve as the primary liaison between Novelis operations in Germany and China for the commercial and defense customers in North America.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a thorough understanding of Novelis’ aerospace products, operations, and commercial processes in order to effectively provide support to existing and new customers.
- Work independently with minimal direction and make sound decisions within approved guidelines set forth by your manager.
- Demonstrate accuracy in work and timelines with the ability to learn and apply knowledge to role.
- Ensure purchase orders are entered timely and accurately by the responsible Novelis site.
- Streamline the ordering process to reduce inefficiencies where possible.
- Send order status reports to customers on a weekly or bi-weekly basis while providing additional updates on an as-needed basis.
- Acquire forecasts from select customers and check versus capacity allocations for any discrepancies.
- Track invoice due dates versus scheduled payments and follow up with customers to ensure timely payments.
- Work closely with Novelis’ logistics teams to support the international flow of goods and help troubleshoot any issues (i.e. customs clearance, delivery appointments, etc.) while providing insight to customers.
- Track on-time delivery metrics and look for opportunities to improve our delivery performance.
- Send regular customer satisfaction surveys and continuously work to ensure customers have high satisfaction levels.
- Support administration of customer claims together with quality and customer service representatives at the Novelis site.
- Learn and effectively use customer online portals to coordinate any activities and communications administered through the portals.
- Participate in conference calls with global participants that require flexibility to accommodate various time zones (notably Germany and China).
- Live the Novelis values and cultivate teamwork with colleagues around the globe.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of proven experience in a customer service or inside sales role.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and organization skills.
- Proficiency with applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc. Intermediate Excel skills, such as creating accurate Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas are required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in an aerospace or metals-related business with knowledge of aluminum products.
- Any experience working with aerospace OEMs, such as Boeing, Airbus, etc.
- Any experience with SAP and/or Oracle systems.
