ERG is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician for a short-term assignment to support operations and provide technical expertise on energetics-related mechanical systems at a federal site in Indian Head, MD. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, developing technical procedures, and coordinating with engineering teams, contractors, and government personnel.
This position will be at a federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG’s Fairfax and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC.

Job Description:
- Provide technical support to investigate malfunctions or faulty conditions on energetics equipment and recommend corrective actions
- Prepare and guide the development of procedures for conducting tests on various mechanical and energetics-related equipment
- Review information resulting from equipment tests, inspections, or overhauls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and technical soundness
- Develop and offer technical guidance for preparing work plans and procedures to execute complex tasks
Qualifications and Skills:
- 25+ years of experience in mechanical and energetics systems, including expertise in energetic chemical manufacturing equipment used in nitration processes
- Experience supporting maintenance, testing, or troubleshooting of energetics equipment
- Strong technical writing ability for procedures, instructions, and engineering documentation
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams, contractors, and government stakeholders
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
