Position Summary:

The Senior Engineer - Threat Research role will continue to build and maintain Trend Micro's vulnerability analysis tools, expand toolset's capabilities, and research new analysis tools and techniques. The position will add to, or replace, code to automate these tools and techniques and the overall process.

Responsibilities:

• Work with cross-functional teams (Developers, Vulnerability Analysts, Reverse Engineers) and create effective execution plans for analyzing vulnerabilities and automating analysis data & metadata production.

• Create unit and functional tests and test automation as needed to reduce regression bugs and ensure proper functioning of deployed code.

• Design & implement additional automation as needed to support virtual infrastructure.

• Collect and enhance metrics for case throughput, vulnerability discoveries, and feedback management.

• Shape the future of automated analysis and determine what functionality should be added, such as AI, MCP, intermediate languages, etc.

• Collaborate with and prioritize the needs of vulnerability analysts and stakeholders.

• Conduct vulnerability research, discovery, analysis, and reporting.

• Research novel tools & technologies for vulnerability analysis, exploitability analysis, and reverse engineering in support of the same.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Comp. Security, Comp. or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 4 - 10 years of experience in reverse engineering or vulnerability analysis, ora Master's degree in CS or related.

• Programming experience in Python (Django, Ruby, and Elixir/Erlang are beneficial).

• Virtual machine or container usage/management experience (VMware, Docker, Podman, etc).

• Experience with version control (git) and CI/CD processes & tools (Github Actions, Concourse, Jenkins, etc).

• Agile software dev familiarity, but more importantly, be a self-motivated, fast learner who's willing to learn.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical content.

• Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix command line environment

• Experience using static (disassemblers, etc) & dynamic analysis tools, including debuggers (windbg, gdb, etc)
