Senior Revenue Assurance Analyst
DigitalOceanAbout the role
We want people who are passionate high performing team players who can take new challenges and go the extra mile.
The Senior Revenue Assurance Analyst will assist in developing and implementing a new revenue assurance function at DigitalOcean. This role will work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, Internal Audit, and Accounting teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the company’s revenue and related transactions such as cash collections, credits, discounts, and taxes. Embedded within the Internal Audit team and reporting to the Manager, IT Audit & Risk, the ideal candidate for this position will be someone who has relevant prior experience (such as IT Audit, Data Analytics, Revenue Assurance, and/or other risk analysis roles) and is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, highly technical environment with a high volume of complex data. We only hire the best to these teams, and your work will have a direct impact on the future success of this rapidly growing company.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As the first member of this new function you will:
- Assist in drafting the revenue assurance charter including defining the roles, responsibilities, and expected outcomes of the team.
- Develop a deep technical understanding, and become a subject matter expert, of the internally-developed DigitalOcean billing system.
- Identify and map risks and controls within the order to cash (OTC) process, including maintaining process flowcharts and collaborating with control owners to update the risk and control matrix as necessary.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls within OTC and make recommendations to management as appropriate.
- Collaborate and/or integrate with stakeholders in product and engineering functions to risk assess new product development or changes for impact to billing, revenue, and related accounts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain additional audits, controls, KPI trends, and ad-hoc analyses to identify gaps in the completeness and accuracy of revenue and related transactions. You will design and conduct highly technical esoteric analysis of high volumes of billing system data including subscription-based, usage-based, and hybrid revenue models.
- As necessary, provide project management capacity in support of company objectives or deliverables within the scope of the revenue assurance function.
- As a stretch goal, contribute to, or lead and maintain, development of Internal Audit automated control testing suite for OTC and other business processes.
- Embody all company values in your work including but not limited to:
- DO BOLD: We think big, bold, and scrappy.
- DO FAST: We operate with a bias for action.
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
Experience:
- 3-4 years or more of relevant experience – prior public accounting (Big 4) experience, external and/or internal audit experience within the technology or computer software industry, data analytics, and/or revenue assurance preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of modern IT practices, including cloud software application development and infrastructure, databases, APIs, distributed event streaming, engineering change management, and risk assessment approaches for internally-developed product and billing platforms.
- Data analytics skills with experience in using Google Data Studio, Power BI, Looker, Tableau, SQL or equivalent - experience both in querying data and visualizing data using one of these tools is required. Ability or willingness to work with and/or understand scripting languages (e.g. Python, Go) in conjunction with delivering assigned work.
- Proven understanding of concepts related to ITGCs, IT application controls, and modern technology risks.
- Experience working with publicly traded High Growth or Technology companies.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in an appropriate field.
- Professional certification such as CIA, CISA, or other certifications related to the scope of the role.
- Advanced user of software such as Google/Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Data Analysis tools as described above, SQL Databases and queries, NetSuite, and Visio or LucidChart.
- Proficiency in the English language both spoken and written.
- Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, curiosity to learn, and displays a high energy level.
- Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize one’s workload and clearly communicate status, and follow up as needed.
