DLSE STATUS:                    Non-Exempt

 Under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Academic Computing, the Educational Technology Specialist 2 (ETS2) works as part of a team to develop and provide support for the campus learning environment (classrooms, conference rooms, computer labs, etc.), including assisting with project management and implementation of new systems. The ETS2 administers, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots audiovisual systems used for teaching and learning, and assists in new system design and implementation projects. The ETS2 trains and supports students and faculty in the use of campus educational technologies and helps identify new technologies which will enhance the learning experience at the University. The ETS2 collaborates within Information Technology and with Library and other university partners to provide and evaluate technology services. Develops documentation, and provides workshops and training to support the use of educational technology. Cross trains within Academic Computing with staff such as the LMS Administrator to provide backup coverage, and AV technicians to support campus events.

  • Maintains, administers, troubleshoots, and repairs educational technology audio/visual installations (classrooms, labs, etc.)
  • Assists in the design and implementation of technology projects including classroom upgrades and AV management systems.
  • Develops training materials and delivers workshops on educational technology.
  • Provides AV support for campus events and end-user support of educational technology systems, including Blackboard LMS.
  • Participates in technology service and implementation planning for educational technology.
  • Completes support tickets assigned in the IT helpdesk system and direct calls for support.
  • Documents system designs and implementation, develop user guides and develops a knowledge base for supporting systems.
  • Provides training and support on the use of LMS and other educational technology equipment and programs to students and faculty on campus. 
  • Installs select software for students and faculty as required.
  • Participates in appropriate training opportunities on an ongoing basis to maintain and improve knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Balchelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science or related field.

Experience

  •  5+ years of experience supporting educational technology environments and/or audiovisual technology support.
  •  2-3 years working in an academic environment preferred.
  •  Experience with administering and troubleshooting Classroom/AV management systems (Crestron/Extron etc.) preferred.·

  •  Ability to interact in a professional, effective, and appropriate manner with diverse multicultural populations, and the university community.
  •  Excellent communication (verbal and written), motivational and interpersonal skills, good customer service attitude, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with multimedia development and MS Office products.
