About the role:
We're seeking a dependable, self driven Class A Driver / Equipment & Materials Technician to support field operations, equipment transport, and yard management. This role combines CDL Class A driving responsibilities with hands-on equipment and material handling, organization, as well as minor repairs.
This is a critical position responsible for ensuring equipment is safely transported, properly maintained, and that the yard remains organized, hazard-free, and ready to support daily project needs.
Job Duties:
- You will safely operate Class A CDL vehicles to transport heavy construction equipment to and from job sites located throughout the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
- You will load, secure, and unload equipment and materials, including heavy machinery and attachments, ensuring proper tie-down and transport procedures.
- You will ensure all equipment and materials are handled, transported, and stored in a safe and secure manner at all times.
- You will ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.
- You will conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle and equipment safety and compliance.
- You will maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment yard, ensuring equipment and materials is properly staged and easily accessible.
- You will monitor equipment condition and promptly report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns.
- You will assist in the update of equipment and material records in our internal software.
- You will support field crews with equipment and materials staging, relocation, and job site setup.
- You will diagnose and repair small fixes on equipment such as: hydraulic hose repair, small engine repairs, trailer maintenance, etc.
- You will coordinate with the Operations Coordinator to ensure timely and efficient delivery of equipment and materials to job sites.
- You will perform routine yard upkeep, including equipment washing, basic fueling coordination, and general organization.
- You will immediately report any incidents, damage, or mechanical issues.
- You will assist with scheduling and logistics coordination related to equipment and materials transport and movement.
- You will communicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Requirements
Professional Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL License with experience operating commercial vehicles
- Experience hauling, loading, securing, and transporting heavy equipment
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards
- Ability to safely handle and move heavy equipment and materials in the field and yard environments
- Experience with equipment inspection, care, and basic condition monitoring
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and well-managed equipment and materials yard
- Minor mechanical skills with the ability to do light maintenance, welding, and troubleshooting.
