Job Description:
This is technical services work within the Office of Safety & Mobility. The individual in this position will review crash reports from police departments around the state for location and information accuracy. Using the Maine Department of Transportation's Crash Reporting and Analysis for Safer Highways (CRASH) system along with the state's GIS system, MaineDOT Map Viewer, they will review crash report information and locate the crash on our GIS network. They will also be responsible for organizing and creating packets for High Crash Locations throughout the state. This individual is responsible for the research and analysis of each crash at the desired location. The research includes producing Crash Summary Reports in the CRASH system. That data is then transferred onto a Microstation CADD Diagram for a visual representation used by a variety of in-house and independent engineering clients. Additional duties may include creating Crash Report Summary I & ll's per client requests, quality control of incoming crash data, and running a variety of SQL database queries for informational and quality control purposes.
Preference will be given to candidates with acute attention to detail and organization, as well as good oral and written communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and Microstation or equivalent CADD based software. An understanding of SQL is a plus but not necessary.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Three (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field–OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
