The goal is to reduce hardware sustainment costs, modernize system architecture for compatibility with virtualized and cloud-based platforms, and implement a DEVSECOPS pipeline to support secure, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD). This position requires expertise in software development, cloud-native application design, and the use of modern engineering methodologies to migrate legacy server-client systems to containerized, modular, and scalable solutions.
This position will support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) Joint Staff J7(JS J-7) contract at our Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex.
What You Will Do
• Refactor and re-architect legacy federates to operate in cloud-native and virtualized environments.
• Migrate existing standalone and server-client systems into containerized applications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Develop and maintain software solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Design and implement DEVSECOPS pipelines (CI/CD) for efficient and secure software delivery.
• Integrate automated testing, code analysis, and container orchestration into the development workflow.
• Redesign legacy UI components for improved usability, accessibility, and supportability.
• Transition from hardware-intensive graphical interfaces to modern web-based user interfaces.
• Apply a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) to increase interoperability, maintainability, and flexibility of federates.
• Collaborate with systems and cyber teams to ensure software components align with open standards and DoD mandates.
• Work closely with system engineers, cyber architects, and exercise planners to gather requirements and align technical solutions with operational goals.
• Document software architecture, technical design decisions, and development best practices.
