The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning and directing the delivery of primary health care and health education programs at the Minor Med Centers. The incumbent will provide primary care and health education for patients. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning and directing the delivery of primary health care and health education programs at the Minor Med Centers. The incumbent will provide primary care and health education for patients. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the assigned center according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating physician. Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
  • Collaborates with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards.
  • Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - Master's Degree Advanced Practice Nursing
  • Preferred - Master's Degree Nursing

Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - General nursing of clinical practice at the RN level 3-5 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and professional techniques in a specialized field of nursing. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a master’s degree or higher in a nursing specialty and is demonstrated through national specialty certification as a nurse practitioner.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and teaching as acquired through experience in a community based clinic.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Exposure to excessive heat or cold as required.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • May require handling or adm
