Job Summary
With minimal supervision, acts as the key contact and subject matter expert for all contract-related activities. This includes developing and negotiating contract terms, conditions, modifications, penalties and incentives, while working with key stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are met. Analyzes and evaluates change to drive continuous improvement in the process of contract management and contract management trends. Leads the proactive, methodical management from initiation through execution, compliance and renewal. Additionally, this position manages the contract execution process; resolving problems, mitigating delays, mediating disputes and escalating issues. Contract Managers at this level are competent to work in most areas of contract management, but may require guidance in others.
Essential Functions
- Assists with the development of all, license agreements, amendments, terminations, purchase agreements, management agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and requests for proposal (RFP). Manages the contract development and negotiation process for facilities initiatives. Enters/maintains current information in the internal contract repository and the system contract database
- Develops relationships with facilities managers, business units, supply chain and suppliers to support facility objectives, influence key stakeholders and jointly develop strategic sourcing strategies
- Manages contract review process to ensure delivery against objectives and contractual budgets; develops regular reports on contract milestones and performance; and informs internal customers, suppliers and management of activities and progress, through both verbal and written communications. With minimal supervision acts as the principle contract negotiator for all assigned contracts
- Assists in the development of audit strategies contracts remain in compliance. Continuously participates in process improvement initiatives and acts as a champion for change
- Administers billing, invoicing and performance/penalty adjustments, where appropriate. Participates in annual budget forecasting, variance tracking and internal charge backs, where appropriate
- Gains knowledge on compliance and regulation changes affecting health care and works in a coordinated way with the legal and compliance departments to develop the appropriate strategies and methodologies to maintain compliance for all contracts
- Creates a customer-focused, service-based approach to working with stakeholders and suppliers, which emphasizes the creation and cultivation of cross-organizational relationships
- Accountable as a role model for customer service excellence
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years of relevant experience related field
Preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience negotiating and managing contract lifecycles
- Experience in finance or contract management
- Healthcare real estate experience, with knowledge of best practices for contract negotiation tactics and strategies
- Working knowledge of Stark and Anti-Kickback laws
