Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Pediatric Emergency Department

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Emergency Department practice in Minneapolis, MN. M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children's ED is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. They see an annual volume of about 25,000.
In this role, you will:
- Evaluate patients and perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
- Compile patient medical data, including health history
- Order diagnostic tests, including imaging, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests, and interpret test results
- Perform therapeutic procedures, like suturing, splinting, wound care, nerve blocks and other procedures appropriate for an emergency department setting
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, and medical devices
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
- Work with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to create and maintain appropriate patient records
- Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals
- Exhibit professionalism that is the expression of positive values and ideals as care is delivered and maintain commitment to ethical principles pertaining to provision or withholding of clinical care, confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, and business practices
Your schedule:
- Shifts are 10 hours per day. Mainly during the evening
- Currently it is noon-10p
- Rotate weekends and holidays, 1:3 weekends
- Openings: 0.5 - 1.0 FTE
We’re looking for a PA or NP who is:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice.
- Certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

The full-time salary range is $130,002 – 164,797 commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE. Additional earning potential for shift differential.
