What You Will Do

The East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) has an opportunity for Process and Manufacturing Engineering (P3) position within the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) engineering team. As a CTRP Process and Manufacturing Engineering (PME), the incumbent will report directly to the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) Engineering Manager and have responsibility for a subset of hardware flowing through the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) shop floor. The successful candidate will be a technical leader to the shop floor and have a hand in day-to-day machining, inspection and thermal spray operations. Successful candidates in this role enjoy working with their hands in a machine shop environment and solving problems daily.  This position will support second shift operations. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Being a technical leader focused on the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) Shaft cell.

  • Providing technical support daily to the shop floor for any machining, inspection or thermal spray challenges that arise during the repair process.

  • Helping to develop and enforce standardized engineering practices, processes, tools and methods across products under your ownership.

  • Managing projects and participating in CORE business progress, lean manufacturing, project management, quality improvement efforts.

  • Co-owning the Shaft Cell with the Cell Leader, driving on-time delivery and profitability improvements in your business.

  • Selecting and introducing new capital equipment to improve cell business metrics.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in Military, Manufacturing, Logistics, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred.

  • Component repair experience utilizing complex machining, particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment.

  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing process and/or repair process life cycle

  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of turbine engines and/or Pratt & Whitney products.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, engine manuals and blueprints.

  • Experience working with CAD/CAM programs, Solumina MES, SAP ERP, and MS Office Suite.

  • Project management experience and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • LEAN, Continuous Improvement, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training and experience.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.

  • Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve business goals.
