Job Description:

The St. Bernadette Shoppe Clerk has primary accountability to assist in driving revenue, increasing business, delivering the highest level of customer experience and ensuring that the store is operated in a manner to advance the goals of the university and the specific mission of the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.
20 hours per week: work days vary including weekends, plus occasional evenings hours for scheduled events (subject to change depending on season and events/ group schedule).
Position reports directly to the St. Bernadette’s Shoppe Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations:

• Drive retail growth and assist in maintaining operations with VEND point of sale (POS) system
• Process daily online store fulfillment
• Follow checklist for opening and closing store
  • Maintain appropriate cash levels in cash drawer, turn in all property monies and receipts, and ensure deposits/cash drops are verified
• Restock items as necessary
  • Ensure stockroom procedures are met
  • Stocks shelves, counters or tables with merchandise; set up displays with staff according to Manager directives
  • Display merchandise in a neat, eye-appealing manner
• Process receiving and checking-in inventory daily
  • Print labels and tag prices on merchandise
• Secure shop and monitor guest activity to prevent losses due to merchandise theft and damage
  • Report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to Assistant/Manager.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
• Reach, bend, twist, pull and stoop; move, lift, or carry objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds; stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time

Customer Service:

• Welcome and acknowledge all guests when they enter the store
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation
• Offer assistance in locating merchandise and respond to questions regarding merchandise
  • Create excitement and show passion for the product by communicating relevant information to guests; answers questions about product features and benefits
• Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette

Salary/Hours

• Minimum Pay Rate:$15.00/hour
• (Part-time, 20 hours per week, hourly, weekends included)

• In-depth knowledge of Roman Catholic institution, with its cultures and structure, and activities

The National Shrine Grotto is a Catholic shrine devoted to our Blessed Mother, Mary, and serves as a place of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation. The means of salvation are to be supplied more abundantly to the faithful by the diligent proclamation of the word of God, the suitable promotion of liturgical life, especially through the celebration of the Eucharist and penance, and the cultivation of approved forms of popular piety. The National Shrine Grotto is to specially foster the unique contribution of the geographical area of its location to the founding of the Catholic Church in the United States of America.
